Dr. Monica Larson Bio
Dr. Monica Larson was born on the south side of Chicago, and she and her twin sister were the youngest two of six children being raised by an amazing single mother, who taught her children the, “Do what you’ve got to do to make important things in life happen” lesson. She graduated from Wheaton Central High School January 1987.
After high school she worked at the local Sears for a couple of years where she met her husband, Eric to whom she has been married for over 33 years.
In 1990 she worked for the DuPage County State Attorney’s office as a paralegal and assisted with the research and preparation of cases across the spectrum of criminal activity including violent crimes, sexual assaults, property crimes, and drug trafficking.
In 1997 she went to work for Lucent Technologies as a project manager overseeing research and development teams and creating an Microsoft Access Inventory database to increase department productivity.
In 2002 she went to work for United Technologies as a Sales Representative negotiating and executing contracts, securing maintenance agreements, conducting face to face customer service and conflict issues resolution.
From 2005 to 2011 she went to work for the Chevron Corporation as a Senior Specialist managing compliance tracking, coordinating site safety inspections, and designed and administered a nationwide database. She started volunteering weekends and nights with the Antioch PD from 2007 to 2011.
The lessons her mother taught her about doing what you’ve got to do to make the important things in life happen, served her extremely well when Monica decided to go back to school and applied the lesson to her education, which she took to the highest level.
While working full time for Chevron, Monica earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice 2008 – 2009 from the University of Phoenix.
In 2010 she earned a Bachelor’s Degree Summa Cum Laude in Criminal Justice with an emphasis on Crime Scene Investigation from Kaplan University.
In June of 2013, while interning at Pasadena recovery, she earned a Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology from Argosy University and earned a PsyD in Clinical Psychology (September of 2013 to August of 2016 from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology accelerated program schedule) accredited by the American Psychological Association – Los Angeles Campus, 2016.
Monica practiced sex offender treatment from 2014 -2015 with Orange Psychological Services, via a contract with the State of California. She then went on to practice victims of crime and traditional client treatment from 2015 to 2019, with Dr. Ekerette Essien PHD.
