Dear Neighbors, I love the City of Henderson and am so proud to call it home. And like you, I’m frustrated and angry over the lack of effective leadership from City Hall, particularly Ward 2, and its impact on Henderson’s families.
As your City Councilwoman, I will work full-time to make Henderson the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
As the Quality-of-Life Candidate, your voice is what will determine my governance. You are the only person who can and should define you and your family’s quality of life.
I pledge to do may part as a member of the Henderson City Council to implement the following priorities.
Public Safety
Public safety is a primary concern for residents of Henderson. Crimes are up in Henderson. Ensuring the safety of our city will be my number one priority. We need to work to help our police department in a positive branding campaign, help them reach and bring awareness to their target market and begin explaining the pride and benefits of being a police officer while our kids are in high school. As a city councilwoman, I will work to ensure our police are well funded and supported by making sure their work environment is healthy and positive.
Quality of life issues
Quality of life issues such as parks, recreational facilities, sidewalks, roads and emergency services are important to our community. A strong and healthy community empowers residents to achieve a higher quality of life. Henderson has seen it shares of struggles and together we can overcome them to become a resilient community. As city councilwoman, I will work to identify the issues and goals of the community and incorporate them into the decision-making process.
Open/Transparent Government
Henderson city government has a reputation for a lack of transparency and very little community interaction. This needs to change as transparency is more important now more than ever. Transparency ensures government agencies are accountable to the community they serve. An open and accessible government is a trusted government. As a city councilwoman, I will demand that the city is transparent and communicates and listens to the residents.
Responsible Growth
Growth needs to be well-planned, efficient and respects existing neighborhoods; while recognizing we have to grow our community to stay healthy. Neighbors should have a voice in new development that impacts the lifestyle and quality of life when they made a conscious decision to live in a particular neighborhood. As a city councilman, I will work with developers and the community to arrive at win-win solutions to growth and development.
Education
Education is a critical factor for the long-term success of our community. I support school choice and the idea of smaller school district. We need to find commonsense solutions to our teacher shortage, large class sizes, and low academic achievement. While I cannot directly make education decisions in my role as a city councilwoman, I will support quality education, bring together administrators, teachers, students and parents in Ward 2 to achieve a better education for our kids.
Economic growth, creating jobs and revenue.
A strong and resilient economy is one that is diversified and places great importance on small businesses. 80% of the Henderson economy is founded in the small business sector. I will work to bring new and innovative jobs to Henderson; however, I will not give away tax dollars to new business and industry unless the jobs are high paying, career jobs and the Rate of Return to the tax payer is substantial and out performs the initial fiscal incentive.
If you’re ready for new leadership and a future for Henderson we can be proud of, please support my campaign by either volunteering, donating or casting your vote for me on November 5, 2024.
Thank you!

“It is my great pleasure to endorse the candidacy of Dr. Monica Larson for Henderson City Council Ward 2. She has and continues to be a steadfast supporter of programs and initiatives on behalf of all veterans, men and women, who have and continue to honorably serve our nation's military services in the past and currently serve on active duty, the reserve and the national guard. Her compassion, intellect, integrity and honesty are above and beyond reproach when dealing with matters concerning the members and their family dependents. The citizens of Henderson can expect her total commitment for conscientious and concerned services in their behalf.”
